Christmas in July Comes to QUAY2

On a blustery winter’s day, the Quay and QUAY2 communities came together to celebrate Christmas in July at The Quay sports pavillion, where children created special Christmas decorations out of natural materials, such as gum nuts and leaves.

Tamara Bell, a local architect who created MAKE Art Room, was on hand to help children create their mini-masterpieces. They became a representation of a southern hemisphere Christmas, where she-oak nuts replaced pine nuts, banksia leaves replaced holly, gum nuts were used instead of bells and spinning gum leaves made garlands.

“I also incorporated the indigenous dot circle as an Australian icon to show a coming together of family and friends at Christmas,” says Tamara.

Christmas is a special time for The Quay communities and has been the talk of the town for the last few years as residents go to so much effort to showcase their Christmas spirit, led by The Quay Resident’s Association, who puts on a fabulous event in December with the help of Intrapac Property.
